Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage at War in the Pacific NHP

May 29, 2014

One does not have to look hard to find Asian American and Pacific Islander heritage on Guam. War in the Pacific NHP‘s themes, stories, programs, projects, sites, and history all revolve around the experience of Asian Americans or Pacific Islanders. Our employees, staff, partners, and visitors represent this population.

Looking back over May 2014, Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, we recognize the accomplishments of these people – as individuals and as a community. We reflect on the traditions and legacy they’ve passed down to us from generations ago. And we remember their bravery and sacrifices during the Pacific campaigns of World War II.

Our youth are carrying the spirit forward. Check out the video below to see how park volunteers are using their heritage to connect visitors from all over the world to this very special place.
