Culture

Besides the history and the scenery in our island national parks, unique cultures continue to live on here. Visiting these parks, you are bound to see the influence of the Chamorro, Carolinian, Samoan and Hawaiian cultures throughout. Often times, there will be opportunities for you to experience these cultures first-hand through activities, demonstrations and cultural festivals.

Hi my name is James Twito. I am having a horrible time finding a better than minimum wage job. Are the programs or opportunities that can help me make my way in the pacific?

Respectfully, the photo implies that Samoan and Hawaiian cultures are of a primitive “basket weaving” level. In fact these societies are advanced and advancing setting the standard for other civilizations in such fields as medicine, music and literature.

Thank you for mentioning this, Stephen. However, please keep in mind that it is a mission of many of our national parks to keep alive the living history of the people and places that came before us.
